Find out what our satisfied riders have to say about Düsseldorf Airport you’re going to visit.
Started and arrived from here a lot of times yet. Very good airport with good signage a lot of restaurants and shops and the ways to the gates are not long. You can easily access it by car public transport or taxi. A visitors terrace is available.
Located just to the north of Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf Airport is Germany’s third largest airport. Our Düsseldorf Airport guide includes contact details as well as information regarding airport facilities, public transport and nearby accommodation options.
The airport is an important base for German airlines Eurowings and Condor. The airport is one of the 25 busiest airports in Europe with nearly 25 million passengers in 2018. Düsseldorf Airport has the luxury of a railway station (Düsseldorf Flughafen) and a metro station (Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal / S-Bahnhof).
Dusseldorf International Airport, also called Dusseldorf Airport (IATA: DUS; ICAO: EDDL), is the international airport of Dusseldorf, the capital of the German state North Rhine-Westphalia.
Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is the third largest airport in Germany in terms of number of passengers since it has handled over 24 million passengers in 2017. The airport serves the city of Düsseldorf and the majority of North Rhine-Westphalia (along with Cologne Bonn Airport, Dortmund Airport and Münster Osnabrück Airport). Düsseldorf Airport is a hub for Eurowings and it has three terminals and two runways.
Having left Germany for Australia via ICE fast train to Frankfurt, I had the opportunity via code share LH/SQ combination to fly out via Dusseldorf, which was more convenient. I was pleasantly surprised by how modern the airport has become. Easy access via car, friends dropped me off and there were loads of parking spots, a huge check-in terminal flooded with natural light and Lufthansa’s fully automated machine check-in including the ability to change seats, which was great, and then baggage drop at the counter. Security check was swift and efficient and I appreciated the area to have a big glass wall towards the terminal so that after I got checked I could wave goodbye one more time to my friends, which is rare in an airport. Once in the Gate/Departure section, the shops on offer including duty free and a wonderful bakery with a huge range of freshly baked sweets, paninis and drinks, a newsagency and more. The airport including toilets were very clean and the gate very easy to find. Lufthansa guests even got to pick from not just a daily free newspaper prior to boarding, but an what seemed like an entire newsstand. I counted 8 magazines and 5 daily newspapers, which was more than I had ever seen, even in Frankfurt. Boarding and departure was on time and I can only recommend travelling through DUS. Now that EK, SQ (as of July appearantly) and CX service Dusseldorf directly, I may look at flying in direct next time round.
